Bio: Ronaldo de Assis Moreira -- or Ronaldinho Gaucho to
nickname-happy Brazilians -- was born on March 21, 1980 in the
southern city of Porto Alegre. Like most Brazilian soccer
prodigies, he came from a poor family and was raised in the
heart of the dirt road-laced settlements known as favelas.
Bio: Soccer greatness should have been
expected from Ronaldo Luiz Nazario de Lima. After all, while
growing up, each sports milestone came in fours.
It was four years after his September 22, 1976 birthdate that
the Rio de Janeiro native first discovered the game, watching
his father play the sport and becoming enthralled by the way his
old man, Nelio Nazario de Lima, worked a soccer ball.
Bio :David Robert Joseph Beckham was born May
2, 1975, in Leytonstone, England. As a student in Essex, Beckham
won the Bobby Charlton Soccer Skills Award at the age of 11,
making his football talent evident at an early age.
Bio :Michael James Owen was born in Chester,
England, on December 14, 1979. Michael's father Terry had played
professional soccer for local club Chester, as well as Everton.
Introduced to the sport at the (relatively) late age of 7,
Michael first played for Mold Alexandra's under-10 squad at the
age of 8. Being the youngest of the bunch didn't hamper his
success, as the speedster scored 34 goals in 24 matches (with
nine goals coming in one single match). The following season,
Michael joined two under-11 squads: Hawarden Rangers and St.
David's Park.
Bio:Zinedine Zidane (a.k.a. Zizou) was born
June 23, 1972, in Marseille, France. Zidane got his start in
football at an early age, when he joined the US Saint-Henri
club.
Bio: Born on August 17, 1977 in Paris, Thierry
Henry spent his childhood with a soccer ball by his side. As a
teenager, he excelled for the national junior teams of France,
traveling the world and gaining valuable match experience. At
the age of thirteen, his professional rights were secured by
First Division Monaco.
